On 30th November the pupils of grades 6 and 5 took part in an unusual lesson of English - video meeting with their peers from the Croatian school SEI:"GALILEO GALILEI. At the beginning our students greeted their partners singing a popular polish song.
Christmas cards for Croatian School
Our
pupils prepared 26 Christmas cards for Croatian school and one card
for each partner schools.
The
pupils made the cards during after school workshops and individually
at home. They tried to use different techniques to make the cards look
original.
We
hope the Croatian pupils will like them and we're looking forward to
receiving the cards from Umag. We're going to decorate our Erasmus plus corner with them to show them to everyone.
Flags and maps of the partner countries made of healthy food
Almost all classes in our school took part in this activity. Our pupils with the help of their parents, and teachers made posters using only healthy food products to make the partner countries' flags. They used rice, groats, lentils, cornflakes, beans, pasta, etc.

3rd PROJECT MEETING IN TOMELLOSO, SPAIN
On
25-27.10.2016 a delegation of Szkoła Podstawowa in Nowa Słupia took
part in the third international meeting of the project "GOAL".
The School was represented by a project coordinator Ewa Pikus and
teachers: Agnieszka Pawlik-Osuch and Olga Zyzman-Ponikowska. The
visit was organized by partner school CEIP José Antonio, which is
located in Tomelloso (central Spain).
The
main purposes of the meeting were summarizing the project activities
for the period May-October 2016, detailed planning and project
discussion. On Tuesday, there was an official welcome at school. The
first thing that caught our attention after opening the school door
were wonderful decorations made by children hanging everywhere in the
building. The greetings "CZEŚĆ" (Hi – in English),
Polish flags and maps of our region with pointed Nowa Słupia,
posters of the Holy Cross Monastery were on every wall and woke our
emotion.
Due
to the warm, sunny weather, an official welcome meeting was held in
the courtyard of the school. The partner schools delegations were
welcomed by the school principal and the mayor of the town. Then the
students greeted each country flying flags, they were accompanied by
the national anthem of each partner country. After that, each class
presented a dance to folk tunes and popular songs.
We
learnt the culture, history and national tradition of Spain. On
Wednesday we participated in a trip to the city of Toledo located by
the river Tag. We admired the beautiful view of the city and did a
lot of sightseeing.
We
tasted Spanish cuisine and admired a flamenco dancer – a pupil.
On
Thursday there were organized sport competitions connected with
paralympics in which each student, and the teacher could feel how to
be a person physically disabled or blind. The games of basketball or
sitting volleyball weren't even for us, healthy people, easy tasks.

"SITTING VOLLEYBALL" MATCH
The
next activity in the project "GOAL!" was a game "sitting
volleyball". After some instructions the class 6 students
experienced how to be a sportsperson with injured motor organs. They
played the match and they claimed that it wasn't easy to move and
play volleyball in that way. They were very active and engaged in the
game.
We
hope that the students have overcome their stereotypes towards people
on wheelchairs.
Watching Wheelchair Basketball Match
On
the 8.X 15 the students from our school went to Kielce to watch The
International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. Our students
supported the team called „Scyzory Kielce”. The
players were quite good and they won all the parts of the match.
After
the match our students talked to the disabled basketball players
about this discipline, their disability and some interesting
facts of the players' life. One of the sportsmen whose name was
Jarek was a student of our school. He introduced us to his colleague
who took part in the Paralympics in London.
We
took some photos with these basketball players.
This
trip was a wonderful lesson of tolerance towards disabled
people.
PHOTOSTORY - A PARALYMPIC ATHLETE
A few students who chose to take part in this task watched the Paralympics carefully to find the athlete who they would admire.
They looked for information about the disabled athlete's career, childhood, job and interests on the Internet and in other sources. They also followed them in the Paralympics to be the witnesses of their successes.
They prepared PP presentations.
Here you can watch the best one.
KAHOOT
Shortly after the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro we played the kahoot.
The questions were easy although the results of the pupils weren't very high. The pupils answered 10 questions in Polish and they had a lot of fun seeing their results on the interactive board.
The questions were: e.g. How many countries took part in the Paralympics? Which country won the biggest number of medals? How many days did the Paralympics last? How many countries took part in the Paralympic Games? Which place in medal classification did Poland take? Who of Polish athletes was the twice gold winner in this year Paralympics?
Wiktoria Pająk (class 6) took the first place in the quiz

THE INTERVIEW WITH A MARATHONIST - ALEKSANDRA MĄDZIK
- Why did you choose this sport?
A.M.
: It was a complete coincidence. I liked
running at your age and I used to run shrt distances 60m, 100m or
300m. Then I said goodbye running and started playing volleyball, but
a few years later when I changed a job I went back to running.
There was a running section at my work and I really liked this
sport. You do not need much for running, good shoes are enough and
besides you can go running everywhere.
- How many liters of water do you drink while running in marathon?
A.M.:
I can't drink a few litres of water, it's absolutely too much. I
drink water in plastic glasses which we get every 5 kilometres on the
track. There are about 8 stands with water. I try to drink one glass
which is not full – about 100 ml, so it gives the amount of less
than 1 litre during the marathon. When it's hot I take one more glass
with water just to spill on my body.
- How often do you train?
A.M.:
4 times a week. I'm running different distances.
- How much time do you spend on training?
A.M.:
During the week my training session is about 5-6 hours long, and I
run about 70 kilometers.
- Was it difficult to start running?
A.M.:
Yes, it was. It wasn't like that: I went out from home and started
running 40 kilometres. My first running exercise was 1 -1.5
kilometre long. After a few weeks I was ready to run 10 kilometres.
- Do you follow any diet before a marathon?
A.M.:
Unfortunately, yes. This is one minus of running. I care about
what I eat and of course don't eat everything. I try to avoid
coffeee. A week before a marathon I don;t drink coffee or alcohol, I
don't eat fast food. I prepare food myself. I eat more fish than
meat. I eat fish 5 times a week. And shortly before a marathon I
don't eat any rice, groats, fruit. I eat a lot of carbohydrates.
- If you didn't run, what would you do in your free time?
A.M.:
I definitely would cook. I love experimenting in kitchen, I
like tasting new things.
8.
Who supports you
in running?
A.M.
: Family, my parents who are my great fans.
And of course my sister and friends.
- How many injuries have you had?
A.M.:
Fortunately, I haven't broken anything yet, but I had one serious
injury after the marathon in New York. When I was running I didn't
realize I had some liquid in my knee. Probably my body was exhausted
and it manifested it that way. When I returned to Poland I when to
emergency room. I couldn't walk for some time as it hurted very much.
I had to take a break in running to let my legs rest.
10.How
long have you been running in marathons?
A.M.:
I started running in marathons 4 or 5 years ago. I have run about 14
marathons which gives the number of 3 marathons a year.
- Did you know as a child that you wanted to be an athlete?
A.M.:
No, not as a child, but I always knew that sport would be
close to me. I used to ride a bike, play volleyball (for 6 years). I
also played table tennis. I always liked sport but I never thought
that I would run long distances.
- How many kilometres can you run?
A.M.:
I am able to run 42 kilometres.
- What do you do in your free time?
A.M.:
I read books, travel and meet my friends.
- How many gold medals have you got?
A.M.:
I haven't got a gold medal yet, not yet. The best place which I took
was the fourth one.
- What do you like in running?
A.M.:
It's an amazing kind of feeling, it's energy that winds me up. It
really excites me.
- Do you want to take part in Olympic Gmes?
A.M.:
I'm too old and besides, I'm not so good at running. But who
knows, maybe one day...
- What is your biggest dream?A.M.: I want to go to Hawaii and run the local marathon . This is dream.
- Are shoes important in running?A.M.: Good shoes are the most important in running. They protect your joints.
- What's your favourite sport clothes brand?A.M.: I buy sport clothes of different brands.
- Do your glasses cause a problem while running?A.M.: Sometimes yes, because my nose sweats and they slide.

- Who is your idol?A.M.: There's no one person , I follow a few people.
- How many medals have you got?A.M.: More than 100, the most important ones are in my flat in a special box.
