2nd international meeting in Nowa Słupia, Poland (19-21.04.2016)

Our School hosted a delegation of teachers from the five partner schools. It was the second international meeting in the Erasmus programme "GOAL" - "Go On And Lead your team through Europe."

On Tuesday, April 19th we organised the European Day during which our students welcomed foreigners. The meeting was attended by the local authorities, parents and other guests.  The ceremony opened the headteacher Małgorzata Jakubczyk, who gave a warm welcome. Then, the main coordinator of the project Kirsi Erasvuo (Finnish school) presented the representations of the European Schools. The Mayor Andrzej Gąsior greeted the guests and gave them small gifts to promote our region. The school coordinator of the project Ewa Pikus acquainted everyone with the plan of the visit and told about the project activities done so far. The official part ended with the performance of the school rock band "Trele Morele", who presented the project anthem.  Then the youngest class, under the guidance of their teachers with charm and humour greeted our foreign guests with short performances, which surprised the guests. The performance of each class was preceded by a presentation of the country flag. The show started a group of kindergarten children who danced to the song of Polish jazz singer U. Dudziak "Papaya". Class 1b sang and danced to the song “Soy una taza" welcoming in that way a delegation of teachers from Spain. The girls dressed in black tops and red skirts, boys dressed in suits and Zorro running with a sword - aroused a smile among all viewers. After them the Irish leprikons and elves (class 1a) entered the stage and sang a song based on the popular Irish folk tune. The Guests from Finland were greeted by pupils of class 2b, dressed as Santas and Eskimos dancing to the song of famous Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani. Class 2a greeted the Croats in their national language, wishing them a pleasant stay in Poland. The parade of the Olympian gods in beautiful costumes prepared by the pupils of class 3 and the dance Sirtaki (Zorba) performed by the students of class 5 really touched the Greek teachers. The school rock band "Trele Morele" performed a few popular English songs. The last point of the ceremony was a play "Cinderella" in English with a commentary in Polish. The actors were students of Class 6, who showed great acting skills.  After the break the teachers from the partner countries went for a walk to see Nowa Słupia. The tourist guides were pupils from class 5. We hope that the guests liked our town. Some of them told us that it is a full of charm, calm and clean place.

On Wednesday, April 20th our guests went for a trip to Krakow. They visited the Wawel Castle, St. Mary's Church, Old Market Square with Cloth Hall. In the afternoon they were in Auschwitz-Birkenau. A visit to the museum was a unique experience and we saw tears on the guests' faces.  Friday was a day full of project activities. Since the morning our foreign partners were in school. They participated in classes of different subjects. Not only did they observe the lessons, but they actively participated in them. On the Polish lesson the foreign teachers repeated tongue twisters, on mathematics they solved tasks with children related to fractions. During Art they helped students in designing our project logo using different techniques. During the course of speech therapy they practiced difficult humming sounds.

Next, we started doing the project activity "Treasure Hunt". Polish students and all the teachers involved in the project were divided into six groups. Each of them had to perform some activities related to sports and then using a map they had to find a treasure.

The last point of the stay was a trip using Nordic Walking technique to Holy Cross Mountain. There they visited the monastery with the relics of the tree of the Holy Cross.

The visit of the teachers from partners' countries was a great experience for us as it was the first time we hosted the foreigners. We hope they enjoyed the time spend with us.
